Eat This, Drink This, Do This: LA Weekend Planner

Tart waves its rainbow chicken flag
Drink This
It's National IPA Day today, a holiday we can really get behind. To celebrate, check out the newest canned beer from Golden Road Brewing, Wolf Among Weeds, a hop-heavy double IPA that was just released this week. Find it at the Pub at Golden Road, one of our favorite outdoor drinking spots (trains!), and at select bars around town (5410 W. San Fernando Rd.; 213-373-4677).

Eat This
If you're still jonesing for a fried chicken sandwich with pickles - other than this one, or any like this - Tart at the Farmer's Daughter Hotel has a few clucking deals, too. Beginning Friday (Aug. 3), get the fried chicken sandwich (or fried tofu sandwich) solo or in a meat-and-three meal, or a punch bowl and chicken slider combo (feeds up to five people), and proceeds will go to GLAAD. The deal runs through October (115 S. Fairfax Ave.; 323-556-2608).

Do This
In between the Luckyrice Night Market and the LA Taco Fest, you can probably fit in Plate by Plate on Saturday, which pulls together more than 40 chefs and mixologists for an excellent night of eating ($150), or the LA Weekly Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, which is all about, yes, pancakes, but much more ($30).

  1. There's also one of my favorite dining events in LA: picking up take out from my fave places (Mozza2Go? Cube? I love these Tart sandwiches, too) and heading to the Bowl. This weekend is Pixar in concert - I worked on the show and can't wait. http://hbowl.com/PixarInConcert
