Best Thing We Ate Today: Little Flower Cafe's Chicken Banh Mi

Yesterday we said banh mi is one of our favorite things to eat on a hot day. Well, we found a great rendition at Little Flower Cafe. The permanent home of Christine Moore's candy company (you've seen the caramels and marshmallows all over town) is a charming neighborhood spot, with a menu full of sandwiches, salads and sweets. The chicken banh mi is straightforward - moist shredded chicken, lots of pickled radish and carrots, Persian cucumbers, fresh cilantro and plenty of sliced jalapenos - with a nice light swipe of mayo on a really fresh roll. But it's refreshingly light and delicious.

Turns out Moore has a cookbook coming out, too, Little Flower: Recipes From the Cafe, with a release party at the cafe on September 15 (5 to 8 PM). In the book she shares her favorite breakfast and lunch dishes, plus desserts, pastries and more. While this sandwich might be in there, we really hope her chocolate chip cookie recipe is because they're kind of addictive.
