Beach Eats: A Guide to Montauk’s Food Trucks

The (amazing) lobster roll from Turf
Sure, NYC gets a lot of attention for its fairly thriving food truck scene, but a little over 100 miles east in Montauk is a collection of food trucks that don’t just complement the dining scene – but are the dining scene. At least as far as sun bathers are concerned.

Montauk, the easternmost point in New York State (and least chichi part of The Hamptons, though that’s slowly changing), is known for sprawling beaches that become clogged with vacationers in warm months. Ditch Plains is the most popular, and because there’s no boardwalk and town is a bit of a walk, the only quick lunch options are the four food trucks that set up shop in parking lots directly off the beach. Which ones should you try? Read on to find out. If you're going to hit up the Hamptons, you can use this for your daytime dining and then scope out this list to see where you should eat at night.
