Things are getting out of hand over the Great Chick-fil-A Controversy of 2012. After the crazy number of people who lined up for chicken sandwiches at Chick-fil-A across the country yesterday, today's Kiss-In was almost thwarted in Hollywood. Owner Jeremiah Cillpan isn't messing around - he issued a plea earlier this week asking for support as a franchisee, and this morning his staff called in the cops to manage the mob, but not of couples locking lips - for the media deluge the planned protest caused. And in the South Bay, some graffiti artiste left a message for the Torrance location. The Kiss-In is still happening across the country, though, and there are plenty of photos prove it.
We're still a little dumbfounded by the sheer number of people who went to the restaurant yesterday. As others have said, if only that many people would line up to help at food banks or in support of something more worthy, we'd have a much better society. Instead, they ate fried chicken because politicians told them to. Luckily we have several delicious alternatives around LA for those who don't want to take sides or cross the protest lines. Even some that mimic the famous one, just with a more positive message.
