9 LA Fried Chicken Sandwiches You'd Rather Be Eating Anyway

Even cold, Ink. Sack's sandwich is one of the best
It's a good thing fried chicken sandwiches are so hot right now, otherwise there would be a lot of very unhappy cluckers out there. While Chick-fil-A is deeply embroiled in controversy - with both days of support and protest happening this week - we thought we should present some of the tastiest fried chicken alternatives around town. No, these restaurants (and a truck) don't have a late-night drive-thru, but these are incredibly addictive sandwiches. Did we miss your favorite? You know what to do.

  2. I think it's too bad that Zagat is involving itself in the Chick-Fil-A controversy. They are a great company that treats their employees great (even giving them Sunday's off!) and serves good, fast food.

    1. Chick-Fil-A set themselves up as a target. They have no one to blame but themselves.

    2. I just think it is funny. No one protested Obama when he didn't believe in homosexuality.

    3. Your point about Obama hits the nail on the head!

    4. Chick-Fil-A all the way! They've got my business forever!

  3. I think it's too bad Chick-Fil-A involved itself in promoting hate!

    1. The only hate being promoted, is by the homosexuals. The statement made by the CEO was a freedom of speech issue but the homosexuals have twisted it to be something else and that is just wrong. The homosexuals are a hate group.

    2. No, their CEO publicly stated that he believed not all the people in this country deserve the same rights as others. (The right to marry the person they love.) This is discrimination and violates the founding concept of all men created equal in our constitution. However, all the supports of this chain whine about their constitutional right to free speech. So only their rights should apply in the constitution, and not others? Hypocritical to say the least!

    3. Marriage isn't a right... It was created by the church... The government just learned to tax it.

    4. Look, I'm straight, married with a beautiful daughter, but I firmly believe that the LGBT community seems to be the last group of people that people somehow feel comfortable continuing to openly diminish or ostracize, under the questionable defense of either learned religious dogma, a lack of understanding that this is not a "choice" lifestyle, or just plain ignorance.

That having been said, Chick-Fil-A did something that is unforgivable for any service-oriented business, regardless of whether we agree that their convictions were right, or misguided. Strictly from a business perspective, out of stupidity or arrogance, their CEO decided to cast public judgment on an extremely devisive and controversial topic. They are in the fried chicken business. They are in the people business. In doing something that had nothing to do with the former, and only serving to alienate many of the latter, they must now deal with the fallout.

It's a shame really. I used to love their food, but I can't visit a restaurant that has the historical equivalent of "colored only water fountains". Prior to civil rights, certain people seemed to be okay with that too.

Many years from now, I hope that people finally evolve and realize that diminishing other groups of people takes away their right to live happy and unencumbered, and ultimately gives license to intolerance, hate, and violence. I'm hoping my daughter will grow up in a world without these prejudices.

  5. I AGREE it is disappointing to see Zagat insinuating themselves into the Chik-Fil-A controversy (and oh so cleverly siding with the anti-Chick-Fil-A protesters while setting it up to claim they're merely discussing good chicken sandwiches.) I'm not Christian and I don't normally eat meat of any kind, but I'm a Libertarian so when ELECTED OFFICIALS START THREATENING businesses in the private sector USING THE COERCIVE POWER OF THE STATE, then it's time to hit the streets. I've eaten at Chik-Fil-A almost daily to show support. ALSO: ALL OF YOU WHO CLAIM CHIK-FIL-A AND ITS SUPPORTERS ARE "HATERS" ARE HYPOCRITICAL LIARS IF YOU VOTED FOR OBAMA IN 2008 - or did you not notice he held THE SAME POSITION on gay marriage as Dan Cathy until Obama's flip 2 months ago? WE DIDN'T SEE YOU PROTESTING OUTSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE, ACCUSING OBAMA AND HIS SUPPORTERS OF BEING HATERS. Additionally, if the Mayors of Chicago, Boston, SF & DC feel Chik-Fil-A is not welcome in their towns because of the values of it's founders, WHY DO THEY ALLOW FARAKHAN & HIS SUPPORTERS IN THEIR TOWNS? Muslims don't support gay marriage. Did anyone who calls Chik-Fil-A and its supporters "Haters" support building the mosque near Ground Zero? You can't have it both ways. You can't support Obama when he holds the same views at Chik-Fil-A founders, and then attack Chik-Fil-A only. That makes you liars, hypocrites, political opportunists and people who DO NOT need to be taken seriously. Oh,yeah, we don't. That's why even WEST HOLLYWOOD Chik-Fil-A has been rockin' & rollin' ever since this whole fake, trumped-up, hypocritical "scandal" began. And normally, they serve 2,000 meals per day. On Chik-Fil-A Appreciation Day, they served 10,000. You who would deny Christians in this nation their freedom of speech and freedom of religion are pathetic losers. You are the haters and the moral hypocrites. You will NOT triumph. As a Libertarian I fully supported Civil Partnerships. But many of us will not support ANY of your hateful causes any longer. Obama will lose. And you will lose.

    1. Thank you for your comment!!! The issues you mentioned are indeed valid and should be questioned by everyone. It is obvious "hypocrites" are only concerned with their own ignorant beliefs.

    2. Shame on Zagat's for blindly following this unwarranted bagging of Chick-Fil-A. Should people also not buy from Amazon, Starbucks, etc. because they support "progessive" politics and policies? Thre words for you people - FREEDOM OF SPEECH! Bad idea Zagats - you may have pissed off more people than delighted with your political position on this.

    3. I agree that all these people so angry about the opinion of the Chicken-Fil-A CEO, did not say boo when Obama had the same opinion. How do you explain that?

  6. I receive these updates so that I may be informed in regards to culinary pleasures to be found in and around my community. I do not want political partisanship from Zagat. If I were interested in politics I would look elsewhere. I find this article to be distasteful and unwanted. This article killed any passion I had towards your opinion. My answer to you is "goodbye Zagat".

    1. I agree with you there.... shame on you Leslie Bella for using Zagat as your voice to show your ignorance.

    2. THIS IS SO TRUE, BUT IT SEEMS THAT NEITHER LESLIE BELLA NOR ZAGAT CARE AS LONG AS THEY GET THEIR POLITICAL MESSAGE OUT! AS A LONG TIME ZAGAT USED I TOO AM CERTAINLY DISAPPOINTED!

  7. Really? Now you're injecting politics into restaurant reviews?
Shame on Zagat for sanctioning this woman's article.
Thank God free speech still allows us to express our opinion here.

Gotta go! I'm off to chick fil a for some waffle fries!

  8. You forgot the chicken sandwich at The Misfit in Santa Monica and the chicken baco at Baco Mercat downtown.

  9. The Libertarian above stated his views very well and I agree with them completely, even though I am not a Libertarian! And I also agree with everyone who is disappointed that Zagat chose to inject politics into their business of reviewing restaurants! I for one no longer choose to support Zagat in any way!
