The London supper club scene has quietly faded in the background lately but here are three great ones taking place this Autumn that we think will help revive the trend.
Gingerline
What: Spice things up at Gingerline - the pop-up restaurant/performance art evenings in clandestine venues in and around the east end. Named after the same-coloured East London tube line, the evening is shrouded in secrecy. You will be directed (via text message) to a station on the East London line and led to an undisclosed location for delicious four-course seasonal dinner and performances by poets, artists and actors.
When: Every Wednesday and Saturday until early October.
The Details: Secret location. Book now online (spaces are limited).
The Supperheroes Series
What: Ordinary people (doctors, lawyers, teachers) use their superhuman cooking powers to host supper clubs in their homes and raise money for Action Against Hunger. Attend more than three and you'll be eligible to win a foodie prize like a hamper or an Asian cooking class.
When: Until October 31.
The Details: Choose a cuisine and location. Book online.
Kerstin Rodgers at Bestival
What: Pioneer of the London supper club scene Kerstin Rodgers (aka Ms Marmite Lover) is setting up shop at Bestival - the boutique music festival on the Isle of Wight. The temporary restaurant, inspired by an old-world shipping experience with heritage crockery and nautical uniforms, will be open for brunch, lunch and early or late dinner. As usual with Rogers, you should expect seasonal, themed dishes such as "south seas" soup served in coconuts and "shipwreck" pavlovas with salted caramel.
When: September 6-9.
The Details: Robin Hill Park, Isle of Wight. Book online.
