Where to Eat Gelato in London

Waiting for summer to arrive so we can start eating gelato is proving to be a little frustrating - so today we are ignoring the weather and braving the rain to indulge in our favourite frozen treat. Here are five of the best gelato spots in London.

Dri Dri
Seasonal flavours and organic dairy products make this an almost guilt-free choice. Italian owner Adriano di Petrillo doesn't use any additives like emulsifiers, non-natural thickeners or colouring, which is why you can’t see the product on display - instead flavours like Granny Smith apple sorbet and pistachio are served from a traditional Pozzetti counter (020 3490 5027).

Oddono's
A favourite of chef Gordon Ramsay, this gelato is the real deal, served by cheerful staff wearing T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan 'Life's too short for bad ice-cream.' A handful of flavours changes every week so check back often but we recommend avoiding the after school rush (020 7052 0732).

Gelupo
Sophisticated flavours like ricotta, chocolate and black pepper, or vanilla with saffron are available to eat in, takeaway or have delivered from the popular Soho gelateria from the people behind Bocca di Lupo (020 7287 5555).

La Gelatiera
Seasonal and organic ingredients take centre stage at this Covent Garden ice cream parlour and coffee shop (all milk and cream comes from Ivy House Farm in Somerset, for example). Unusual flavours include white peach and prosecco Bellini, ricotta and fresh Sicilian fig, salted caramel and a dark Italian mocha chocolate, to name a few. And baristas whip up some seriously good espresso and cappuccino (020 7240 0746).

Gelatorino
Also in Covent Garden you'll find this authentic spot where the gelato is so fresh it is made right in front of you. Flavours include everything from spicy ginger cream to orange or coffee with chocolate chips, and there's an impressive selection of Italian coffee as well (020 7240 0746).
