Weekend Planner: Beer Olympics, Food Trucks and BellyQ's Preview

First Birthday
Tonight, Roka Akor celebrates their one-year-anniversary with $1 barrel-filled Sake, plus complimentary robata-grilled pork belly. Japanese drummers will add the soundtrack to the celebration (312-477-7652).

Soup Nazi
“No soup for you!” On second thought, OK, you can have some soup or junior mints and muffin tops, but only from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday, when the touring Seinfeld food truck makes a stop at North Avenue Beach. Actor Larry Thomas will be on board in full costume and, hopefully, in character.

Beer Olympics
While Olympic athletes will be testing their strength, stamina and speed in London, starting Friday Chicagoans can test their drinking abilities at Moonshine Brewing Company. The beer Olympics begin on Friday and continue through August 12 with different regional beers on special each night for $3.50. At the end of the games the winning beer - which was consumed the most during the Olympics - will win gold. (773-862-8686).

BellyQ Preview
The highly anticipated addition to Bill Kim’s collection of restaurants (Belly Shack and Urban Belly) is still not open, but anxious diners can get a taste of what will be on the menu this Saturday. A pop-up preview will take place at FoodEase in Water Tower from 12 to 2 PM. (312-335-3663).

The Mystery Ingredient Is…
Miracle Whip: For three days top Chicago chefs will prepare free dishes for the Mircale Whip Food Truck. On Monday, Andrew Brochu (Graham Elliot) serves summer ratatouille on naan with miracle whipped ricotta at Chicago and Larrabee from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Tuesday, Dave Beran (Next) will be serving Banh-Mi at Van Buren and Wabash from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Thursday, Heather Terhune (Sable Kitchen & Bar) will be serving fried green tomato-pork belly BLTs at N. Milwaukee and W. Huron from 6 to 8 PM.
