It's no ordinary picnic in the park.
Thursday
Bored with your lunch options? Spianata & Co - the famed Roman sandwich shop has just opened in Mayfair. Every morning, starting from scratch, they gently knead, fold and roll the dough for the bread until the texture has reached perfection. Only then do they bake it and fill it with the finest Italian ingredients. Beats the soggy sarnie you ate yesterday.
Friday
Don't miss tonight's Spanish Feasting Night in the Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room. Consultant chef Angela Hartnett has assisted in putting together a three-course meal including ham and cheese croquettas, roasted pepper salsa, churros with chocolate and other traditional dishes. To reserve a table call 020 7522 7896. The feast costs £35 per person and includes a carafe of wine.
Saturday
Pray for sunshine and then make your way to The Manor Arms Crab Shack. The colourful outdoor pop-up serves crab, prawns, langoustines, crayfish, mussels, cockles and winkles. All shellfish is caught in British waters and steamed, grilled or broiled while you watch (020 3195 6888).
Sunday
Following the success of their food truck, ice cream and sorbet specialists Ruby Violet have now opened their first standalone parlour in Tuffnel Park. Stop by for an outrageously good selection of flavours including liquorice with blackcurrant ripple, pistachio halva and rhubarb as well as a very pretty ice cream layer cake and stunning sorbet roses.
