Venice Gets Hostario del Piccolo and Simmzy's Soon

The owners of Piccolo started in Venice, opened a sibling Hostario del Piccolo (where we had a nice DineLA meal) in Santa Monica, and now will add the same spot to Venice come September. Construction is underway in the Rose Avenue space - almost directly across the street from Superba Snack Bar - and it's quite large, anchoring the whole corner of the Frank mixed-use complex. We predict some pasta wars. With Cafe Gratitude on the other side of the building, and the constantly busy Venice Beach Wines and Oscar's Cerveteca across the street, this block is easily rivaling nearby Abbot Kinney.

Mike Simms, co-owner of two Simmzy's locations, Tin Roof Bistro and MB Post in the South Bay, discloses to Food GPS that his group has signed a lease for a Venice location, with one slated for Hermosa Beach, as well. No address or date has been given, but keep Venetians should your eyes peeled for more craft brews and a menu from chef Anne Conness.
