| Got foie? Bring it in to Txoko and Ian Begg will cook it for you. |
Like Joey Elenterio at
Chez TJ who starts his new
free foie gras promo tonight,
30 Under 30 chef Ian Begg at North Beach’s
Txoko will start gifting away free foie gras as a way to keep public attention on the California ban. Starting tomorrow and continuing every Wednesday indefinitely, Txoko will be running an early bird promotion called “Free Foie Wednesdays.” Each week, starting at 5:30 PM, the first 25 diners will get a ticket for a free foie gras pintxo which will be a miniature version of its signature foie gras torchon served with macerated prunes and wild rocket on a slice of Acme baguette. In addition, Txoko owner Ryan Maxey tells the
Inside Scoop, “If any interested parties happen to be in possession of some foie gras, it can be brought in and chef Ian Begg will prepare it.” He adds the promo is meant let people know that those in the industry who oppose the ban are “not going away.”
