Trend Alert: Plant Walls in Restaurants

Plant walls at Governor and Atera
Is it too hot to sit in your favorite secret restaurant gardens? No worries - a few new restaurants are bringing the foliage to your table in the form of plant walls. There are a couple of these around town already (witness Shake Shack Upper West Side), but the newer spreads are in higher end venues. Earlier this week we told you about Governor, a new restaurant on the Brooklyn Waterfront from the folks behind Gran Electrica. Their cool plant wall seems to be inspired by the cuisine, which makes use of foraged goods and green market ingredients.

This is also the case with Atera, a super fancy restaurant whose plant wall also signifies a connection to freshly plucked foodstuffs. It seems that this popular decor element is becoming a badge of sorts to signify a restaurant's freshness. Is seems like it will only be a matter of time before you're able to take a pair of shears and cut off an extra bit of seasoning for your dish.
