Taste-Test: McDonald's Spicy Chicken McBites

Last week, McDonald's unleashed a new flavor of its limited-time-only Chicken McBites onto the nugget-hungry masses - Spicy Chicken McBites. Kaboom. Curious as we often are about new fast-food items (and being that we're forced to cover the beat thanks to irony) we headed on down to our nearest Mickey D's on this scorcher of a Tuesday afternoon to give these bad boys a try. Judging from our first three bites, this rundown should be a quick one.

Taste: Pretty much exactly like a regular McDonald's chicken nugget but not quite as juicy because of the tinier size. As for the "spice" factor it was noticeably not present aside from the slight aftertaste of a cayenne-like substance detectable ten seconds after swallowing.

Texture:
The texture of the McBite is a close cousin to the McNugget, much like the taste. They were indeed crispy as promised yet more chewy and toothsome than we expected.

Overall: If you're looking for some cheap processed chicken (and who isn't?), the original McNugget is probably still superior taste-wise.

  1. Except that it's chicken breast pieces, not processed white meat like nuggets. These are more comparable to Chicken Selects, which are also breast meat.

  4. Echoing the first comment: this isn't a processed chicken product.
Now I know to disregard any review done by Kelly Dobkin b/c it's probably going to be uneducated with incorrect info.
