And it's time for some Paella in Midtown East. A new branch of Socarrat that was supposed to open in the fall quietly opened it's doors on Second Avenue last Thursday, in the space that formerly housed Zarela. The joint is similar to the two other Paella but larger than both spaces and carries a full liquor license while the others only serve wine and beer. There are windows that open onto the street with a few pub-height tables, a long stainless steel bar and a dining room with white drawers on the walls that have become the joint's signature style. If you want to drop by and dig into that paella, hit it at 953 Second Avenue, between 50th and 51st Sreets.
