Sipping For Less: Half-Priced Wine Nights in the Bay Area

If you love great wine but can’t always afford to splurge on it when you’re dining out (particularly with those 2x, 3x and 4x markups), take heed. The Lark Creek Restaurants Group is hosting its annual month-long half-priced wine promo. In addition, we've found five spots around the Bay that offer stealth wine-deal nights all year-round. Cheers!

Lark Creek Restaurant Group: This is one annual tradition we’ll never argue with. Every July, every bottle at every restaurant owned by the Lark Creek Restaurant Group - that includes One Market, Cupola Pizzeria, Lark Creek Steak in San Francisco, The Tavern at Lark Creek in Larkspur, Fish Story in Napa, Lark Creek in Walnut Creek, Yankee Pier in San Jose, Lafayette and Larkspur and Parcel 104 in Santa Clara (Fridays only at Parcel 104; elsewhere, valid every day, at every meal, throughout the month of July).

Cafe des Amis: Here’s a way to make friends. Every Tuesday evening from 5 -11 PM, this Franco-inspired brasserie in the Marina discounts every bottle on their wine list by 50%. That means plenty of steals and deals on their beaucoup collection of French and Californian wines (200 Union St).

Chaya Brasserie: The see-and-be-seen hits the bar hard midweek at this Franco-Japanese fusion on the Embarcadero, but oenophiles more turned on by what’s in the glass should swing by on Sundays when the entire bottle collection is half off. That goes for brunch service (11 AM-2 PM) as well as during dinner service 5:30 PM on (132 The Embarcadero).

Luella: This Russian Hill neighborhood gem has another secret up its sleeve: every Tuesday, every bottle on the small but impressive list is half-priced all night long (1896 Hyde St).

Boca Steakhouse: This swanky Argentinean steakhouse in Novato stocks a treasure trove of South American wines, and lucky for you, each and every bottle is 50% off on Tuesday nights (340 Ignacio Blvd., Novato).

Maverick: Ok, this one isn't technically 50% off, but who's gonna quibble with 40% off when the wine list is as good as it is at this Mission maverick that’s been hosting their Wicked Cheap Wine Nights on Mondays since their inception. Yep, every Monday, every bottle on their well-curated ever-changing American-European wine list is discounted 40% (3316 17th St.).

  1. On the last Thursday of each month Scott's Seafood in Palo Alto has wine tasting for $1. They serve cheese, crackers, and grapes as an accompaniment. Appetizers are 30% off during happy hour.

  2. 1. The Fig Cafe and Wine Bar in Glen Ellen has a NO CORKAGE policy all the time, every day, including New Year's Eve. (The food is terrific, too.)

    2. Menlo Grill in Menlo Park also has a NO CORKAGE policy all the time. (And the food is excellent there as well.)
