One sure way to build some buzz about your restaurant? Make it a secret. New York eateries that hide themselves aren't lacking for crowds - just take a look at the lines for
Burger Joint in the Parker Meridien or the wait-list to get to
La Esquina, which is found underneath a taco stand. While everyone knows about those "hidden" joints, there are a few secret eateries that are actually hard to find. Check out the list below for a primer on these unmarked haunts, and let us know about your favorite secret restaurants in the comments.

Lure Fishbar! I know that Lure is extremely popular... it is a part of NYCRW and has been featured in the media... but I still love how you have to go down a flight of unassuming stairs from the street and there's only a small sign to show that it's there. What a great place!
ReplyDeleteWhat List? As Usual, I see nothing in the huge blank spot in the middle of the page on any of my devices - Apple computer, PC, or iPad.
ReplyDeleteMany times I have the same problem with Zagat's website. Why don't they fix the problem by going straight to the list immediatly.

ReplyDeleteMarchi's - East 31st Street is Gramercy? Bit of a stretch.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see Marchi's on this list. This is a definite hidden gem, that is in Kip's Bay and not Gramercy.
ReplyDeleteWorks in firefox.
ReplyDeleteWhy is the number for Bohemian listed in this entry? Shouldn't it be kept under wraps since it isn't listed on the restaurant's website or anywhere else online?
