Uber, the on-demand car service, is getting into the food-truck biz with an ask-and-you-shall-receive ice cream truck. In honor of July, national ice cream month, Uber is rolling out the trucks in Chicago, Boston, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto and Washington, DC.
No need to chase them down the street, as they can be summoned with the Uber app. Clicking the ice cream cone icon in the app sends a message to the driver with the location of the request. The driver will send back an ETA and bring that creamy cold goodness directly to you..
There is a minimum of $12 per order (about five ice creams), which is charged directly to the card associated with the ice cream beckoner’s Uber account. You'll also get some free swag with your order.
Trucks hit the street tomorrow.
