  2. Carlos Cucina is a favorite place in Allston. Great food, freshest salad and the veal is not to be believed. No reservations and not a large place, so get there early or be prepared to wait. BTW, it is worth the wait!

  4. Spiga Ristorante In Needham. The food is superb authentic Italian, better than any in the North End, and with plenty of free parking in its own lot. It's conveniently located just off of Rte. 128 on the Needham/Newton line. Lovely outdoor patio seating.

  5. Hands down--Kitchen on Common in Belmont. Perfect, fresh, local food. No wine list, but a great little wine store next door, Spirited Gourmet.

  6. Sweet Basil in Needham is fantastic and has a BYOB policy. Great for the oenophile. Fantastic huge portions at reasonable prices. Consistent quality over many years. Whole family loves this meal!
