Now Open: Kitchen Table Downtown, Bon Vivant Market in Atwater Village

Now open in Atwater Village
Joining the likes of Pete's Cafe and Baco Mercat in the Old Bank district Downtown comes the Kitchen Table, which debuted yesterday. The room is intimate, but the rooftop dining area is a bonus. The menu is kept to a minimum for right now, a good smattering of dishes with French, Spanish, Italian and local influences. Right now that means things like chilled cucumber soup with feta; cod with "Parisien" gnocchi; pan-roasted chicken breast with caraway spaetzle and pickled carrots; and lamb with garbanzos, eggplant and dates. It's only dinner for now; lunch will be added later (414 S. Main St.; 213-617-3000).

Atwater Village has a new restaurant and market by way of Bon Vivant Market. The space has nothing if not flow, filled with stone walls, beamed ceilings, woodsy decor, antique desks, communal tables and  nooks for a coffee or cocktail. There's a full bar and a menu of small plates for lunch or dinner, but the take-aways in the cases - prepared salads, charcuterie and cheeses - are a welcome sight (3155 Glendale Ave.; 323-284-8013).
