For the last 13 years, Dogfish Head Brewery has been working with a molecular archaeologist to uncover ancient brewing techniques and ingredients, and tonight you’ll have the chance to taste the results of that collaboration at their Ancient Ales Dinner at Craftbar. The $100 evening includes a five-course dinner with beer pairings, like roasted squab and their “Theobroma” brew, the recipe of which was based on the analysis of 3,000 year old pottery fragments. The James Beard House presents their annual Bastille Day celebration tonight with a dinner prepared by members of the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, including Marc Bauer of the International Culinary Center and Bernard Liberatore of CORE: club. The evening begins with champagne and hors d’oeuvres like lobster bisque with morel ragout, followed by dinner with dishes like braised halibut with vegetable chutney and natural au jus, with wine pairings.
