New Pop-Ups: Cordero Negro and AK Supper Club Launch

Pop ups will always be a thing, won't they? One of  Royal/T's original chefs, Sandra Cordero, is doing a two-night (July 26-27) stint featuring her seasonal spin on tapas with wine, sangria and beer pairings. Look for dishes like chilled gazpacho, frisee with honeyed lardons and peaches, chorizo with saccotash, meaballs in spicy tomato sauce, and Spanish flan. For reservations, visit www.corderonegro.com. Now that Wolf in Sheep's Clothing has moved on from Capri on Abbot Kinney (it closed on June 27), chef Kevin Kathman - who's worked and staged everywhere from the French Laundry to Paris' Arpege to Gordon Ramsay in London - has set up AK Supper Club in the space. Grub Street reports that it just opened this weekend, and will open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through July. Kathman's cooking is along the hearty farm-to-table vein: lamb short ribs with white beans and fennel; baked oysters with chorizo; smoked ham crepes with truffles, brie and soft egg.
