The McKittrick Hotel Launches Rooftop Garden Gallow Green

Something tell us this is a loose interpretation
We just received word that the elaborate Chelsea home to the ever popular Sleep No More has just launched Gallow Green, The McKittrick Hotel's very own rooftop garden bar. Given the deserved popularity of its other jazz-focused bar, Mandalay, we expect good things. Seating is first-come, first-served, reservations are required (offered every half-hour) and an advance purchase of $20 per guest must be made which will be applied to the total receipt. To book your visit, click here.

  1. Anyone who's considering checking out Gallow Green should know that for a venue with a strict reservation policy, they have no problem canceling reservations that have already been confirmed and paid for.

An acquaintance of mine told me about Gallow Green, and she mentioned it'd be a great place to celebrate a special occasion. My boyfriend and I both loved Sleep No More, so I figured this would be the perfect place to take him for his birthday.

On July 25, I made a reservation for 10 p.m. on August 17. I booked it on the website, where there is a calendar that includes all the dates/times with open reservations. I received an email confirmation, and my credit card was charged the required $40 to make a reservation for two.

On the afternoon of August 3 - nine days after making my reservation - I received a call from Gallow Green, informing that they could no longer honor my reservation. I spoke with the box office manager, Maya Baldwin (who was INCREDIBLY rude), and she said that a private party had just booked the entire space, so my reservation had been cancelled.

My response was something to the effect of, "What?! How did this happen?" to which Maya replied haughtily, "We were able to accommodate your reservation before, and now we are not." I thought the purpose of a reservation was to RESERVE YOUR SPOT.

I beg of you all, don't give this place your money. At the very least, don't expect Gallow Green to honor your reservation.
