Pitfire Artisan Pizza launches a new monthly Brewery Night series tonight. Meet some of Southern California's local brewmeisters and sip their brews at a discount ($2 pours from 5-10 PM), plus check out the pizza pairings. Tonight it's Lightning Brewery from Poway. Brewery Nights take place every third Wednesday in West Hollywood, and Thursdays at the Downtown LA location (801 N. Fairfax, 323-544-6420; 108 W. 2nd St., 213-808-1200).
Downtowners looking for a healthy pick-me-up should head to Pressed Juicery, now open in the Cooper Building at Los Angeles and 9th streets. The deal with this uber-fashionable juicy spot, as opposed to others, is that it cold presses the produce in a hydraulic juicer, which they claim gets every last drop, rendering it smooth, silky and full of nutrients. Pressed Juicery has four locations with more on the way, plus home delivery.
The annual East LA Meets Napa event is back at Union Station tonight (6-9 PM). The evening celebrates some of our best Mexican food and restaurants plus the success of Latino-owned vineyards in California. Expect plenty of tacos, huitlacoche, carnitas, tamales, great wines and live music. All proceeds benefit Alta-Med Health Services (800 N. Alameda St.).
The LA Street Food Fest takes over the Rose Bowl once again today, bringing more than 100 vendors - the most yet - which includes not just food trucks and stands but also brick-and-mortar spots like Lazy Ox and Mo-Chica, and celebrated Baja chefs like Javier Plascenia. Tickets are $60 for VIP, which allows early entry, and $45 for general admission. Includes beverages and parking.
Angeleno magazine celebrates its 10th Restaurants Issue at the annual Live and Dine LA tonight at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica. Chefs, mixologists and sommeliers featured in the magazine - Tar & Roses, Cooks County and more - will get awards, and then you can taste some of the food and drinks that made them famous. Tickets are $95 ($150 VIP), and proceeds go to P.S. Arts.
