Upcoming Dinners: Tomasso Trattoria and L'Espalier

Tomorrow, July 20, sit down to a feast created by ingredients procured no farther than a two-hour drive from Tomasso Trattoria in Southborough, including a Tamworth pig from Pete & Jen’s Backyard Birds, vegetables from Verrill Farm in Concord, and clams and oysters from Woodbury’s Shellfish in Wellfleet. The evening will loosely include eight courses - a handful are appetizers and hors d’oeuvres  (6:30 PM; $50 per person, excluding tax and gratuity; 508-481-8484).

L’Espalier loves a good mushroom, and the high-end French favorite in the Back Bay will celebrate the fungi with a four-course prix fixe showcasing various kinds on July 25. Dubbed “Mushroom Wednesday," the dinner will include host of honor, Ben Maleson, resident “mushroom man” and forager (he’s known for pulling up in his white van and treating Boston area chefs to his fun finds), who will be on hand to share his knowledge and experience. Meeting Maleson is worth the dinner itself (7 PM; $115, includes wine pairings; 617-262-3023).
