LA's 8 Best Italian Restaurants

Did you vote for Piccolo?
There may not be a Little Italy in Los Angeles any more, but Italian food is arguably the most popular cuisine in these parts. Whether it’s traditional Northern-style, rustic Italian-American or Cal-Ital, pasta and pizza and risotto are always close at hand in every neighborhood. And new ones, like Soleto and Neapolis, are opening every day. Truth: It's one of our favorite standbys. Check out our list of the top eight spots according to our 2012 Survey, and don't forget to give a shout out to your picks in the comments.

  1. In addition to these top eight in the survey there are lots of lesser know neighborhood Italian restaurants turning out wonderful food. They don't get the spectrum of diners from all over and are not as well known but some are as authentic and tasty as a meal in Tuscany (my favorite Italian cuisine).

We are fortunate to have such a restaurant in the West Valley. Ancora Cucina Italiana on Ventura Blvd. in Tarzana is just such a place. Delicious food, generous servings, informal atmosphere, friendly and accommodating staff and prices that won't leave you with an empty wallet. I tend to go with the pasta specials but you could pick any item on the menu blindfolded and be very pleased with the meal.
