Mike Huckabee declared August 1 Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day, and plenty of folks who stand by the embroiled-in-controversy chain will likely show their support by buying a sandwich. Chicago caterers turned Food Network TV stars, Dan Smith and Steve McDonagh, who also happen to be in a loving homosexual relationship with one son, are declaring a holiday of their own for diners who disagree with Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy's recent anti-gay remarks.
Tomorrow, Hearty will celebrate Chick-fil-Gay Appreciation day with a $10 fried chicken breast sandwiches on toasted buttered buns with pickles served with a side of fries. All proceeds from the sandwiches will benefit Equality Illinois, a non-profit organization protecting the rights of LGBT people in Illinois. The imitation sandwich is topped with a rainbow flag. One thing's for sure, fast food was never this adorable.
