Governor Opens in DUMBO; Beagle Closes for Renovations

Say goodbye to the "old" Beagle, will they now allow standing at the bar?
The Colonie team is helping out DUMBO's dining scene in a big way, having recently opened Gran Electrica in the old Five Front space, and this week comes word that its newest addition, Governor, is now open on the Brooklyn waterfront. The 60-seat space is dishing out a "modern American" menu that, like so many others these days, focuses on locally sourced/foraged ingredients. In fact, this team is even taking table bread next levs: "His menu starts with house-made bread and butter churned daily in the kitchen and dusted with a "salt" made from the rinds of Timberdoodle cheese. " We're not sure we're ready. Check out the full menu here.

Meanwhile, Alphabet City's The Beagle is taking July off to renovate its space and completely overhaul their menu. As for the joint's infamous cocktail pairing boards, word is a full food menu will soon be available with the cocktails when the doors open up again in August. [Via Eater NY]
