San Francisco has no shortage of fantastic ice cream and frozen yogurt shops, but for some reason, residents are up in tizzy about the imminent opening of the city-proper outpost Pinkbery, which is setting up shop Downtown on the ground level of Macy’s Union Square. Apparently, it will be the 200th Pinkberry store to date, but up until now the closest Bay Area branches have been SFO and Palo Alto. The official opening date is tomorrow, but apparently the schmancy dairy queen will be hosting a not-so-stealth pre-opening launch party, and will be passing out free yogurt with toppings (one per customer) from 5-10 PM. The City Dish has all the, well, dish on the soft opening.
If you go, tell us how it is and if it’s worth all the hoopla. To get in the mood, check out the insanely catchy jingle on the Pinkberry website.
Pinkberry, Macy's, 170 O’Farrell St.
