Firefly Bistro Celebrates 10 Years This Weekend

One of the nicest things about sleepy South Pasadena is that the restaurants have longevity. Firefly Bistro, with its charming garden-like setting and Sunday brunches, celebrates its 10th anniversary on Saturday night (July 21) with a special menu of old and new favorites, live music, booze and maybe a balloon or two. The chef-husband-wife team Monique King, who's also worked at  Nine Thirty at the W, and Paul Rosenbluh will serve things like Puerto Rican cod cakes, housemade chips and caramelized onion dip, peppered duck with apple-onion jam, and Korean steak skewers for noshing, and there will be wine and bee on hand to toast. Festivities start at 7 PM. Cost is $40 per person at the door; call 626-441-2443 for reservations. Bonus: Firefly is just steps from the Mission Gold Line stop (1009 El Centro St.).
