Eat This, Drink This, Do This: LA's Weekend Planner

Poolside at the Viceroy
Eat This
Pizzeria Il Fico celebrates its first year of business with an all-day happy hour every day in the bar through July. Get $6 antipasti like meatballs, toasted olives, arancini and prosciutto. But don't miss the pizza: It's one of our favorite wood-charred pies in town (8310 S. Robertson Blvd.; 310-271-3426). [Via Grub Street]

Drink This
All of a sudden, it's summer and actually feels like it, and all you want to do is be near the pool and/or ocean. Do both at the Cameo Bar at Viceroy Santa Monica tonight, when a new poolside happy hour debuts. It's called Arts and Crafts because the theme is seasonal and artisanal, natch, both in the glass and on the plate. The bartenders are muddling ginger, watermelon and shiso with tequila, or roasted peaches with bourbon, and chefs Tony DiSalvo and Chris Crary are serving things like chilled soba salad and Thai-style ceviche. Everything is priced $6 to $12, and takes place poolside every Thursday from 7 to 10 PM (1819 Ocean Ave.).

Do This
Extend the Bastille Day weekend to Sunday (July 15), at the public picnic at Kenneth Hahn State Park. There's tons of French family fun: petanque under the trees, Parisian waiter races, live performances, comedians, a French arts and crafts fair, and of course, French snacks. Admission is $5 (free for kids under 13), and bring cash - there's no ATM on site. Need more ways to celebrate? Here are more Bastille Day specials around town. (4100 S. La Cienega Blvd.)
