Downtown Crossing Adds New Specialty Retailer: Avery Provision Co.

Hungry? Avery Provision Co., serving prepared foods and more, has you covered.
Avery Provision Co., the retail and takeout component to Sip Wine Bar and Kitchen in Downtown Crossing, opened Monday.

The store is a combo deli, sushi bar, grocery, specialty market and cafe. There are more than 30 different prepared foods, including salads and dishes like meatballs and stuffed shells; upwards of 40 artisan cheeses; sushi; sandwiches; some-20 different cold cuts; groceries like eggs, bread and milk; plus freshly prepared breakfast and other sandwiches, coffee, lattes, espresso and tea. As far as dining options, folks can grab and go, eat at a stool in the window, or relax at the 16-seat butcher block communal table.

Avery is the precursor to its sister Sip Wine Bar and Kitchen, a full-serve American restaurant that shares an adjacent space and will be opening on July 23. General manager Jeff Menzer says Sip is scheduled to only start serving wine and drinks at first "for about a week to get out of the gate,” and then will likely start serving food a week after that.

“We really want to be part of the community,” says Menzer, who adds if anyone in the community - locals or visitors - has suggestions for improvement, he’s all ears.

Avery Provision Co. is open 8 AM-8 PM.

Sip and Avery are owned and operated by Legendary Restaurant Group, which also owns and operates Max & Dylans Kitchen and Bar, Scollay Square, Andiamo, Papagayo, and Tavern on the Water. This is their seventh store.
