What happens when Umami Burger founder Adam Fleischman buys a stake in L.A. Creamery Artisan Ice Cream? You get some wild ice cream flavors like Porc Phat, flavored with Asian pears, hazelnuts, mint gel and ... Spanish Iberico lardo. That's right. Pork fat. Most of the Umami Burger's, as well as 800 Degrees, serve L.A. Creamery ice creams, so this partnership is a no-brainer. It's Fleischman's flavor ideas that are a little whacked.

There's the aforementioned lardo, and another made with Moonshine and caramel corn (let's call that "carny"), both of which are available this month. And then there's absinthe ice cream, exclusive to Umami Anaheim, which starts serving it in root beer floats starting tomorrow (July 2). These join, of course, more traditional flavors milk chocolate crunch and salted caramel. L.A. Creamery's ice creams are made with Straus organic milk, seasonal fruits and produce, no preservatives or artificial anything, and can now be shipped anywhere.
