Cider, Ale and Keggers This Week: Nellcôte, The Bluebird, Jake Melnick's

Sure it’s only Monday, but we have beer on the brain and are not alone. Three restaurants are breaking out the brews including a good ole’ fashioned keg party à la Animal House.

Nellcôte
Virtue Cider and Perennial Artesian Ales have paired up with this West Loop New American for a five-course dinner this evening. The meal includes grilled sturgeon paired with a Belgian-style saison brewed with chamomile flowers, fava bean angiolotti paired with RedStreak proper English dry cider, and grilled lamb loin paired with a malty German dunkelweizen. Tickets are running out, so e-mail michelle@virtuecider.com to reserve a seat ($75; 312-432-0500).

The Bluebird
Yes, the Midwest is very proud of its brews, but occasionally we must step back and appreciate brewers outside our fair region. This month’s beer tasting at this Bucktown New American features beers from the East Coast such as Allagash, Victory Brewing, Smuttynose and Dogfish Head. Food is included in the $30 ticket price. E-mail info@blubirdchicago.com to reserve a seat at tomorrow night's tasting (773-486-2473).

Jake Melnick’s
The corner tap is turning 10 and celebrating with a kegger in its newly remolded keg room. On Thursday from 6-9 PM, purchase a commemorative red Solo cup for $10 and fill it with a specialty brew. A college flashback is not complete with a game a beer pong, so play for a chance to win Cubs or White Sox tickets and dinner for two. Complimentary BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, wings and mini “Q” burgers will also be served (312-266-0400).
