And now it looks like a Chicago alderman named Joe Moreno is making similar efforts to block a new Chick-fil-A location from opening in the city's Logan Square neighborhood. He told the Chicago Tribune today that: "If you are discriminating against a segment of the community, I don't want you in the 1st Ward. Because of this man's ignorance [Chick-fil-A's Dan Cathy], I will now be denying Chick-fil-A's permit to open a restaurant in the 1st Ward."
Chicago mayor Rahm Emmanuel was in agreement with Moreno and also told the Tribune: "Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values," the mayor said in a statement when asked about Moreno's decision. "They disrespect our fellow neighbors and residents. This would be a bad investment, since it would be empty."
The way things are going, we won't be surprised if politicians in other cities come forward in opposition as well in trying to block new locations from opening. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
