If you're going to be out in the Hamptons next weekend, it's pretty much a requirement that you hit up Chefs and Champagne, and epic event put together by the James Beard Foundation that will be hosted by Ted Allen and feature the judges from Chopped along with chefs from top Big Apple restaurants. The shindig takes place at the Wölffer Estate Vineyards on Saturday the 21 from 6 to 8:30 PM. It's $200 for Beard Foundation members and $275 for members of the general public. If you're looking for a weekend activity that's a little closer to home and a lot less expensive, check out the cooking class being hosted at BLT Steak this Saturday, July 14. Chef Braden Reardon will teach attendees how to grill BLT style while concocting dishes like grilled watermelon salad, chicken, corn, and steak (of course). He'll also show you how to make grilled s'mores. The class 90 minute class is at noon and costs $80. Call 212-752-7470 for reservations.
