Best Thing We Ate This Weekend: The Pikey Burger

No doubt about it, this flavor bomb will soon show up on a few Best Burger lists. You'd expect a place like The Pikey to have a burger - most of the gastropub fare is classic booze food, but elevated, things like a kale salad with crispy pig's ears, papardelle with oxtail ragu, and bruschetta with burrata and fresh English peas. So this burger is no ordinary burger, either. The beef, a combination of skirt, brisket and chuck, is ground in-house and grilled to perfection. The sharp cheddar is superb, but what really took it over the edge for us was the Worcestershire aioli, which adds a ton of flavor. Even though the challah roll fell apart a bit, we ate every crumb. Those thrice-cooked fries on the side? Fantastic. Mix a little Gindo's Spice of Life in with the ketchup; you get both in the condiment caddy.
