After eating an inordinate amount of grilled meats and flag cake for the extended Fourth of July weekend, it was quite the palate respite to dig into branzino tacos from La Otra Escuela, Steven Arroyo's newer larger taco spot in the former Cobras & Matadors space. Something simple and clean called to us, and the fish tacos were perfect. The branzino was nicely grilled, served over a small bed of cool-slaw in handmade corn tortillas. All it needed was a squeeze of lime, and the flavors were subtle yet distinct. The space is simple but no bar - not to sit nor drink at, since there still isn't a beer or wine license for this space. And not once did we think the shoe inserts hanging from the ceiling would fall on the table. La Otra Escuela is located at 7615 Beverly Boulevard next to Potato Chips, Arroyo's deli spot.
