We popped into the new Trattoria Neapolis the other day, and it looks like Pasadeans are taking to it quite nicely: The place was utterly packed...and late! This could be Mozza-East, really, with a little more perfecting. At least the cocktails are really good, a boon for this part of town, especially for the South Lake district. The place is still getting its footing, but the food we tried was quite nice, including the salad that takes inspiration from crudites and bagna cauda, and the wood-fired pizza with lamb sausage and bitter rapini. The lobster arancini was the best though, very flavorful, crisp outside, creamy with chunks of lobster meat inside, and the saffron aioli was delicious. It was so good we forgot to snap a photo, so we borrowed one. What a promising start for the new spot.
