The Best Thing We Ate Last Night: Charcuterie at Salumeria Rosi
Cesare Casella's Salumeria Rosi has long been a destination for meat-obsessed foodies while at the same time, it's also an approachable neighborhood restaurant on the UWS. Having sampled the small plates Italian fare here a few times, what always brings us back in is the outstanding charcuterie - some of the best we've had in NYC. While Casella has plans to expand with a second larger location on the UES, the original location, although tiny, plates up some of the most delicious salami, prosciutto, coppa and mortadella you've ever had. We could have eaten four more plates of this stuff. Other stand-outs were the farrotto (farro cooked risotto style with vegetables), the lasagna, the gnocchi and the prosciutto puffs (puff pastry + prosciutto = yum). Salumeria Rosi is located at 283 Amsterdam Avenue.
