Jesse Schenker was a rising star when we named him one of our “
New York City 30 Under 30” in 2011. We can officially say that his talent is currently soaring, especially at his monthly “Mondays with Jesse” dinners. Schenker designs the feast on whim, with the intent of pushing the culinary envelope. (March’s menu was inspired by sushi great Sotohiro Kosugi of
Soto; and last month’s included special pours like a 2001 Las Rioja Alta Reserva Especial Vina Ardanza). $125 buys 10-12 courses with 3-4 canapes, with wine pairings for an additional $75—and the priceless bonus of witnessing genius in action, like watching Puccini compose an opera or Fitzgerald at work on a novel.
