IKEA stores - locally, that means Burbank, Carson, Covina and Costa Mesa - are having the annual crawfish boil in the restaurant. Not to be confused with a Louisiana-style boil, Swedish crawfish, called kräftskiva, are cooked with dill and served cold with accoutrements like Vasterboten, a strong cheese, bread and beer. You probably won't get that stuff at IKEA, more like dilled cucumbers, but you still slurp and suck and eat the little suckers until you can't eat anymore.
Naturally it's super inexpensive: The cost is only $9.99 per person ($2.49 for kids 12 and under), and you must buy tickets ahead of time, which are on sale at the IKEA restaurants. Burbank is already sold out for the 6:30 PM seating, but there's availability from 3:30 to 5:30 PM; Carson, Covina and Costa Mesa still have tickets available for both seatings.
