After leaving La Seine, former Top Chef-testant Alex Reznik has a new consulting project underway - FigOly, which opens in the Luxe City Center Hotel downton on July 27. This corner is blowing up, with Soleto Trattoria and Towne Kitchen & Bar within fork-throwing distance, and LA Live across the street. One of the high points to FigOly is the crazy big outdoor terrace that looks out over Figueroa, and also has its own menu.
Reznik's menu is split into two, actually: One for the dining room, and for the lounge and the terrace. The menu has some Northern Italian influences, so expect things like house-made charcuterie, tagarin pasta with porcini and hen-of-the-woods mushroom, tomatoes and ricotta salata, and grilled quail and octopus with currants and salsa verde. The loungier menus feature meatball sliders, pizzas and bombolini. Drinks are, you guessed it, seasonal and market-driven. If you want to check it out during the first-week "soft" phase, management wants you to Tweet your reservation - yes, publicly - to @figoly, and they will confirm. Or, you know, you could always just show up and hope for a table.
