Weekend Planner: Ham Independence, Tour de Chicago

Ham Independence
Who knew ham needed to be liberated? The folks at La Quercia’s Herb Eckhouse will be at Bar Toma tonight to celebrate ham independence with tastings of prosciutto, marinated olives, roasted nuts, cheeses, Dottore pizzas, “Silence of the Hams” salad and a specialty cocktail with Templeton Rye and Bar Toma bitters. Tickets cost $30 (110 E. Pearson St.; 312-266-3110).

Food Trucks
Bucktown’s Holstein Park is celebrating the big 1-0-0. Their centennial celebration on Saturday will bring together food trucks, beer from Goose Island and live music for an all-day celebration. There is a $5 entry fee (2200 N. Oakley Ave).

Passport to Dining
Take a culinary tour de Chicago with Kimpton. Dine at Sable Kitchen & Bar, South Water Kitchen, Encore Lunch Club & Liquid Lounge, Atwood Café and 312 Chicago and receive a stamp for ordering an entree. After earning stamps from all five restaurants, the passports can be entered to win a meal at one of the restaurants. The contest begins on Sunday and runs through September 3.

GOAL!
Spain will take on somebody during Sunday’s championship Euro soccer match. Watch the game at Old Town Social with specialty sausages prepared by chef Jared Van Camp inspired by the participating nations. The game will be playing on every single TV in the joint (23 screens in total) as well as on the three projection screens (455 W. North Ave.; 312-266-2277).
