Tasting Table, NY Times Want To Teach You Mixology

The NY Times drink randomizer
Intricately crafted cocktails using old-time ingredients are de rigeur at many new restaurants across the country, but these classy libations may not have invaded your home bar just yet. Well, two publications are trying to change that with drink recipe generators. The NY Times enlisted Jim Meehan to create a "randomizer" that will show you beverages to make using modifiers like Curaçao, Bénédictine, maraschino and Tasting Table just launched a new section dubbed Back Bar where they ask come of the country's best bartenders for their takes on classic cockatails, with a few new twists thrown in for good measure. Both tools are pretty cool, for spirits geeks and novices alike, and not just because they justify having a tipple in the name of "research."
