Santa Maria Pizzeria Comes to Kensal Rise - We Get the Lowdown

Hailed by many as the London embodiment of Neapolitan pizza, Santa Maria in Ealing has just announced Sacro Cuore, a new branch opening in Kensal Rise later this year. We pinned down one of the owners, Pasquale, to find out more…

So Sacro Cuore - where and when?
It's going to be opening in mid-July at 45 Chamberlayne Road in Kensal Rise.

How's it going to differ from Santa Maria?
To be honest, there's not going to be a lot of difference. The name and identity will be its own but the substance will be the same. We've found the concept and formula of Santa Maria to be a pretty winning one, so we'll be hoping it will work as well in Kensal Rise.


What is it that makes your pizzas special?
They're exactly the same as you will find in Naples, we're utterly faithful to that and we just won't compromise. You want chicken or pineapple on your pizza? Go somewhere else!

Aside from being superstrict about toppings, what else?
We let our dough rise for 24 hours, which means we can use a tiny amount of yeast, and the result is a soft, light, elastic dough that is really airy and just melts in your mouth. Even if you've never been to Naples, you can tell it's special.
