At The Royce, executive chef David Feau will serve foie gras 30 different ways from June 28 to 30. You might find foie with rhubarb gelee, a buckwheat galette and mulberry pickled grapes, or with Maine lobster tail and fava beans. The a la carte dishes start around $20, and there's a minimum of three dishes from the menu per person. The Royce is located at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena (1401 S. Oak Knoll Ave.)
And in Ventura, the Sidecar presents a five-course dinner on Wednesday, June 27, will benefit the Coalition for Humane and Ethical Farming Standards (C.H.E.F.S), which opposes the ban on foie gras but supports sustainable farming practices and the ethical treatment of animals. The menu chef Tim Kilcoyne is laying out includes foie gras custard with cherry chutney and spring herb salad, and a foie gras ice cream sundae with brown butter peaches and salted pistachio brittle. The cost is $150; reservations required. The restaurant is located at 3029 East Main Street.
