Manresa's Anniversary Dinner Series on July 11-15
In the 10 years since David Kinch opened Manresa in an unlikely South Bay suburban locale, it has blossomed into a cult foodie destination serving a uniquely Californian food that’s hard to characterize -one that is inspired by French and modern Catalan cuisines, informed by European traditions and takes full advantage of California bounty, thanks to his close relationship with the biodynamic Love Apple Farm. To celebrate his 10-year anniversary, Kinch decided against one blowout event for a weeklong series of collaborative dinners dubbed “Cooking with Friends.”
Running from July 11-15, the one-night-only dinners will welcome talents such as Michael Cimarusti (LA's Providence), John and Karen Shields (of the formerly of Town House in Virginia) and Carlo Mirarchi (Brooklyn's Roberta’s). In addition, Kinch has invited some of his former chefs back into the kitchen for two nights to create sort of a reunion dinner. For those dinners, each of the seven notable Manresa’s alumni will each prepare one course. The list of alumni includes Belinda Leong (of the forthcoming B Pâtisserie), John Paul Carmona (partner at 3 Mile Group), Jeremy Fox (chef at Paper or Plastik Cafe in LA), James Syhabout (Commis) and Charlie Parker (LA's Freddie Smalls), Michael Gaines (Central Kitchen) and Marty Cattaneo (Dio Deka). As of today, we're told there are still openings spots for both the guest chef and alumni dinners, but they are selling fast.
Manresa, 320 Village Lane, Los Gatos; “Cooking with Friends” dinners will run from July 11-13 and cost $175 per person. The Manresa Alumni Dinners on July 14 and July 15 are $198. Prices are per person not including tax, tip, or wine pairings. Reservations can only be made over the telephone (not online) by calling Manresa at 408-354-4330. Note: the restaurant is only open from Wednesday-Sunday.
