| #19 bliss |
Oh, Langer's, how we do love thee. If LA was built on pastrami (it wasn't), the MacArthur Park deli would be the strong shoulders holding up all others. Or maybe it would be the king everyone else holds in high esteem. Can it be both? Either way, this is one institution the world would be much more dismal without. So get ready for this: in honor of its 65th birthday, Langer's will dole out free sandwiches - the glorious #19, to be exact - on June 15 and 16. The sandwich, if you're not familiar, is made of thick, hand-cut pastrami, cole slaw, Russian dressing and Swiss cheese on that incredibly soft, crusty rye bread.
The rules: The freebies are available from 8 AM to 9 PM on Friday and 6:30 AM to 9 PM on Saturday. Only one sandwich per customer, and you must be seated at a booth, at the counter or in a chair (meaning, no carry-out). Wow, if you thought the weekend lines were long now...Langer's is located at 704 S. Alvarado Street [via Daily Dish]
