The Food: House-smoked BBQ, pastrami on rye and club sandwiches (including a a clever Veg’n Egg version, the popular HRC Sammie (hummus and vegetables on a Kaiser roll), tater tots and mac ’n’ cheese are among the inexpensive fare. Burgers come topped with just about everything else on the menu. Desserts include a margarita-inspired take on Key lime pie.
The Drink: Beer and wine are served. But it would be a mistake to miss its homemade infused liquors.
The Space: The owners hands-on build out gives the storefront space a been-there-forever rustic look, with a cozy window nook, a bar crafted from an ornate fireplace mantel, a classic jukebox, church pew seating and fascinating, vintage photos of Washington, DC. There's also a sidewalk patio for checking out the neighborhood scene.
The Vibe: Laid back and friendly. This stretch of 11Street NW is developing into quite a mecca for low key, artisanal eating and drinking.
