The Industry Brings Gastropub Style to Pennsport

During their eight years running 15th Street’s popular Good Dog Bar, proprietors Dave Garry and Heather Gleason befriended a large portion of Philly’s restaurant crowd. The pair’s newest venture, The Industry, is an homage to the chefs and staff that make up our growing food scene. Now open in Pennsport (the neighborhood that welcomed Federal Donuts last year), the elegant pub gives East South Philly residents a go-to hang with all the trappings of a Center City spot. Eats from Pat Szoke - who became friendly with the couple as a Good Dog regular - are seasonal American faves, with a heavy sprinkling of offal. Drinks include an impressive selection of craft drafts, wines and a very unique cocktail list (don’t miss the completely clear Bloody Mary).

Open daily from 4 PM-1 AM, The Industry also serves weekend brunch, starting at 11 AM. If you’re in the biz, show a pay stub anytime for a discount on your check, and if you’re not, it’s definitely worth stopping by the wood-clad dining room anyway. Read on to see why.
